Rest In Peace Michael! (1958 - 2009)

I'm not going to post a tribute in photos or give you his life story. Everyone remembers Michael, we know how he got started in the music industry, and we know about some of his trials and tribulations. I just want to say that I respected his talent and work and was honestly anticipating his next release. My condolences go out to his friends and family.

Really, Perez?
I have no sympathy for this person, I mean really, he's gay, calls a straight man a fa66ot and is mad he got punched? C'mon!! I laughed after watching his video and listening to that fake and lengthy diatribe with the crocodile tears at the end. And then today, I read on TMZ that he called will.i.am a "thug". So, not only is he a self-hating homosexual using such a derogatory term, he is making his obvious racism pretty obvious using veiled language such as "thug" for will.i.am.
Please Perez, go punch yourself.

Mavericks fan threw soda on La La Vasquez?
If you aren't following the NBA playoffs you may not know about the incident that happened at the Denver/Dallas game, where basically Mark Cuban, owner of the Mavericks, tells Kenyon Martin's mother that her son was a thug. He has since apologized but it made me think, do people really know what a thug is. Most rappers are not thugs, tattoo's don't make you a thug, if you make a MFer mad and he cusses you out, and stomps your face into the ground, that doesn't make him a thug. He's just a pissed off MFer.
Anyway, on that same night where Mark disrespected both Kenyon and his mother, La La Vasquez, fiance of Carmelo Anthony had her own squabble going on. Apparently some Mavericks fans were verbally attacking her and it almost got physical, check it out below:

New Artist Spotlight:: Ayah
Click the picture to buy the debut album 4:15 by Ayah!
Ayah is a breath of fresh air for the R and B genre. She has a style that is her own, and after appearing on tracks with Elzhi and Skyzoo among others, she definitely has shown that she can hold her own and is destined to be around for a long while. Her album has production from the legendary DJ Jazzy Jeff, and while there are very few features, my only wish was that the album was little longer.
Ayah is a breath of fresh air for the R and B genre. Her album has production from the legendary DJ Jazzy Jeff, and while there are very few features, my only wish was that the album was little longer.
Here is Ayah's breakdown of each of the songs featured on 4:15:
2. "Might Not Be" (produced by Lyve)
"Might Not Be" is a song that Tona and myself wrote. It's about liking who you are and knowing your standards. It's about being yourself whether anyone likes it or not.
3. "Fallen" (produced by Amir)
A song about falling in love and then finding yourself fallen from love.
4. "4:15 am" (produced by Al Khaaliq)
I literally wrote this at 4:15 am. Most of my music is written around that time. That is the time where I am most honest and genuinely myself. No make up, glasses on, wearing sweats, making music, or dreaming about it!
5. "He Don't Want It" (produced by DJ Jazzy Jeff)
This is the first song I worked on with DJ Jazzy Jeff. I messaged him on MySpace and asked him what it would take to work with him. He replied almost instantly and said, "Just ask." Not long after that he sent me this beat, and so it began.
6. "Who Are We" (produced by Hazel)
When we're young (and sometimes old), we're not sure who we are. We are scared. Sometimes we lose our way--kind of like music.
7. "In My Lifetime" (produced by Thrysite)
Through all that way we go through, no matter what ups or downs we see, we have to keep it moving. We have to survive.
8. "Do It All Again" (produced by Slakah the Beatchild)
One question, if you could do it all again, would you do what you've done so far?
9. "Believe" (Bonus) (produced by Slakah the Beatchild)
A song about faith and optimism...pretty much what you have to have to take on this industry!
